Daihatsu dominated the Green Car Awards, held by the Environmental Transport Association in London recently.
The awards are given to manufacturers whose cars limit the damage they inflict on the environment, and are awarded in conjunction with the ETA Car Buyer's Guide.
The Guide lists the environmental credentials of more than 400 car models that may be bought in British Showrooms. It costs £5 and includes tips on greener, cleaner driving and "how you can make a difference".
ETA director Andrew Davis said, "The green motorist is demanding that manufacturers offer vehicles which have less impact on the environment. To remain a major player in the volume car market a motor company will have to provide models which green motorists want to buy. The award winners today recognise the importance of the green motorist to their success".
